The Crystal Wisdom Kit
Published in Hardcover by Charles E Tuttle Co (November, 1997)
Authors: Stephanie Harrison and Barbara Kleiner
Average review score:

Great Place To Start
This is a GREAT introductory kit. The astrology & chakra info is superbly handled. Anyone who has experience with the runes or crystals may find some of their correspondences/keywords a bit off. There is a reference to a UK-based company (out of date address) that offers an extension set of 7 stones; but it is no longer offered. The 12 stones are small (about half to three-quarter inch size) but good quality. You may want to laminate the approximately 9" square cardboard wheels to preserve them. A new set "Power Crystals" ISBN: 1840134399 published by Grange Books combines all 4 mini-kits (5.5" wheels)

This kit has so much to teach, yet everyone can learn!
Everybody & anybody will has been fascinated by crystals should give this kit a try. There is so much to learn from it. Because of the organization the book it allows you to use the crystals the same way as Tarot cards. This kit is unique in including astrology(twelve houses), rune symbols, five elements, chakras, planets, and its own symbols on 3 different boards. Onto which you cast out crystals to heal, divinate, and also get immediate, direct answers. Even though it is packed with such information, it is demonstrated in a way that beginners can interpret. I recommend this kit to beginners, such as myself, who feel a strong connection to these long-lived crystals.

what a cool book
accidently, i read this book from a friend of mine. i've been studying some VBScript books and this was the first time for me to read javascript book. it was very informative book

A wonderful book
I found this book to be extremely helpful in setting up a website recently. It is well written, and easy to understand. To be fair, I am an employee of Informix. However, I have used this book extensively and have found it wonderfully helpful. If you plan on using the Informix web datablade, you'll want this book on your desk.

Great book, but I think it's Bill Beavis, not Beans
Good book, good illustrations
But the illustrator of the book is Bill Beavis, not Bill Beans.

A good place to start
This is a great starting point for a journey into knot tying. It just contains the basics and a little on splicing. I would recommend it to any begginer

Exotic Companion Medicine Handbook for Veterinarians (2 Vol. Set)
Published in Ring-bound by Zoological Education Network, Inc. (01 April, 1996)
Authors: Cathy A. Johnson-Delaney and Linda Harrison
Average review score:

It's a good reference book for day-by-day use
This book is very important for the exotic animal practicioner. The division in species makes very easy to find the information required, and the charts are very useful. The book contains only necessary information, so the text is short and specific. Another good factor is the size and cover of the book, easy to carry.

Most useful
Flavia Zorgniotti DVM Phoenix Veterinary Hospital, Wayland Mass

My practice sees 50 percent exotics, and this is one of the most useful reference manuals I have. I use it most every day

Foreplay: Sexual Healing for Spiritual Wholeness
Published in Paperback by GreenPope Publishing (02 April, 2002)
Author: Jamal Harrison Bryant
Average review score:

Sex in the Church?
Rev. Jamal Harrison Bryant makes his entrance onto the literary scene with a book that deals with the subject of human sexuality and spirituality. Sexuality is a topic that is hard for most pastors to discuss, however Rev. Bryant speaks to the issues with a bold frankness.

Foreplay is an adaptation of a series of sermons that Rev. Bryant preached at his church, Empowerment Temple in Baltimore. It is from these sermons that the ministry of Empowerment Temple took shape. From the testimonial foreword where Rev. Bryant tells of his addiction to all the sermons contained in the book, Rev. Bryant delivers a powerful shot to the spiritual being. The various sermon titles such as "The Thong Song" and "I Need Some Foreplay" will intrigue you.

This short book can be used a guide for personal growth. Teen and/or young adult groups wanting to discuss human sexuality and its spiritual side can use this book as a starting point.

Don't Let This One Pass You By!
While reading a magazine recently I came across an excerpt of this book in connection with the scandal surrounding a certain R&B artist. Enough has already been said about that. I immediately ordered a copy of this book and I must say that I was very impressed. This book is honest, raw and deals with a myriad of subjects that the church either refuses to deal with or politely ignores. I, for one appreciated how open and upfront he was in his confrontation of the issues that plague the church today. It is a must read for anyone involved in ministry of any kind. This is a gentleman that will provoke spirited dialogue given the right atmosphere and people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired. Spiritually we are as close to scraping the bottom as I've ever witnessed. He addresses all of this and then some. I encourage Pastors, lay counselors, those committed to working with youth to read this book and pass it on. If we're not committed to finding a solution then in my opinion we're only aiding the problem. If we don't invest in our youth, there are millions of things for them to find themselves involved with and the majority of those options are not positive. Give this author and book a chance. Even while reading this book at work, co-workers wanted to know what the title meant and why I would be reading about that topic.
There's an old saying, "don't judge a book by its cover." This is just an example of that.

A Good Day to Die
Published in Paperback by Doubleday (September, 1981)
Author: Jim Harrison
Average review score:

A great introduction to Harrison.
If you have never read Harrison, this is a great place to start. An entertaining read and fine introduction to the humor, wit, and insight of one of our most engaging authors. You'll hear Harrison's voice for weeks after finishing this book. And you'll want to read more.

The book that ruined my life
This is an incredible book that drove me into a writing career. Jim Harrison has the rare ability to write about people, not heroes or monsters. You leave this book feeling the story may be exaggerated, but that these people were real. Stumbling upon this book in high school opened my eyes to the joys of character-driven stories. It's a bad road trip, but one you'll be glad you took.

Great little book
This is a book of short stories. Many of them got me to think about things in a different way that I probably wouldn't have ever thought of! One of these was titled "Sex in the Old Days"; it wasn't quite what I expected from the title! This would be a great book to take along with you if you have small periods of time to fill in (the doctor's office, waiting for a bus...). I'm looking forward to reading more of this author's books.

A STRANGE AND WONDERFUL LOOK AT LIFE
I really enjoyed this book. If you are depressed, the many short stories will perk you up. I could relate to many of the stories, took me back many years. My favorite was LITTLE TYKIE. A book that will be read over and over. This would be a great book to give as a gift.

A Grave at Glorieta: A Harrison Raines Civil War Mystery
Published in Hardcover by Prime Crime (07 January, 2003)
Author: Michael Kilian
Average review score:

Fast-Paced Civil War Mystery
Author Michael Kilian continues his Harrison Raines series, as the Secret Service agent and his partner Joseph Leahy journey to New Mexico to investigate reports of a rebel invasion there. Though the two agents become separated in New Mexico, they are both in close proximity to Glorieta Pass where the Union, under the command of Major Chivington, drives the Confederate forces back and burns their supply wagons.

Noting the rebels' retreat while trying to free Leahy from jail where he is accused of being a horse thief, Harry makes the acquaintance of Isabel Almaden y Cortes, daughter of Don Luis, a Union hero at Glorieta. When Don Luis is murdered at his home, Harry seeks to discover the identity of the murderer. Passions run high, as shades of gray blur lines of loyalty, and someone seems to be searching for the gold that Harry discovered abandoned near the bodies of a man and woman.

Gripping and intense, the pace of this novel increases in speed as Harry and Indian friend Tatou are attacked when they unearth the grave of Don Luis near Glorieta. Inspired by the actual 1862 Battle of Glorieta Pass, this novel brings into focus a clear picture of the division of familial loyalties and subterfuge that were so much a vital part of the U.S. Civil War.

great Harrison Raines Civil War mystery
He is a son of the South, part of a rich Tidewater, Virginia family who embraces the concept of slavery so wholeheartedly that they fight for the confederacy. Harrison sees slavery as an evil institution and severed his ties to his family. He became an agent for the secret service under Pinkerton's command. Having been involved in two battles in the East, Pinkerton sends Harrison and "Boston" Leahy out west to determine whether these states will join the Confederacy.

Harrison and Leahy are to make contact with Federal supporter Don Luis Almaden y Cortes but instead they journey into Santa Fe during the battle of the Glorieta Pass. The Federal troops, with the help of locals, win, ending the South's hope to make the west part of their new nation. Don Luis is killed after the battle is won and Harrison, who is infatuated with the deceased's daughter, vows to bring the killers to justice if the killer doesn't murder him first.

Each book in the Harrison Raines Civil War mysteries revolves around a key battle that is interwoven into the story line. Michael Kilian does meticulous research so readers are receiving an education while being entertained. A GRAVE AT GLORIETA is an interesting tale focusing on the Western states during the Civil War, but presenting all sides fairly so that readers can understand all the undercurrents pulling people in numerous directions. Critical to this theme is that war is not glorified, but presented closer to the lines of All's Quiet on the Western Front. This book and this series are highly recommended.
